Dinner at Black Coffee Lyrics

Black Coffee Lyrics

After living on the Gold Coast on and off for 15 years, one comes to realise that things are as temporary as the ever popular spray tan.

Sadly, you see many businesses pop up and begin to create something wonderful only to be swarmed by the fake tan masses, turned out like a 2 cent hooker, and eventually shut down leaving only the trashy nightclubs to remain.

However, there is a small community of people creating an, albeit spread out, hub of coolness on the Gold Coast. One of the forefathers of this movement, injecting a breath of fresh air into the haze of glitter and blonde hair in Surfers Paradise is the legendary Black Coffee Lyrics.

It all began with four guys, a great idea, a sincere love for coffee and the perseverance to never loose their cool even when growing as a business.

Imagine, raw brick walls, exposed pipes, low lights, the husky voice of Tom waits singing blues, and a warm smile when you walk through the door, and that’s just the beginning!
The staff boast a world of knowledge when it comes to food, coffee, fine spirits, cocktails and boutique beers. Put your trust in them and they will take your tastebuds on an adventure!

Over the last weekend, we had the pleasure of experiencing this safari of flavours with the entire Food and Wine team.

Black Coffee Lyrics Dinner with the Food & Wine Team

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the wonderful staff and lead to the bar where we were delighted to be handed a beautifully designed and handcrafted drink menu, from which we ordered a multitude of incredible cocktails. I personally recommend “Pims calling the kettle black” a great balance of sweet, sour, strong and rounded off with a light fizz.

Soon after we were escorted to our table and greeted by yet another staff member who gave recommendations on meals and favourites and then we were left alone for a bit…..
After chatting amongst ourselves for a while, we decided to indulge in the degustation, an array of tastes from the entire menu.

First we were served a multitude of entree style tasting plates, each more sublime than the next.

  • A Waldorf Salad with salted caramel walnuts
  • Super Crispy Calamari Ribbons with coriander pesto
  • Onion Bhaji with curry yoghurt
  • Pumpkin Gnocchi with burnt butter and sage
  • Beef Short Rib with coffee sauce
  • Charred Prawns with corn polenta
  • Pork Belly Vietnamese Style with spicy crispy crackling

After a little rest and a chat, we ordered a bottle of wine and moved on to the mains, and again we were left breathless!

We were served,

  • Scotch Fillet Beef with parsnip purée and wilted kale
  • Pan fried Snapper with pea and mint tapenade and beer potato fondant
  • Vegetarian Pizza with caramelised onions and chilli glaze

With our senses now working at full capacity and our minds swimming in delight, we rested once again and finished our wine with some more captivating conversation.

Lastly, we ordered some of their famous coffees and then, when we thought it was all over, there came the dessert board, three portions of indulgence, presented beautifully, there, waiting for us.

Pecan Pie with pumpkin sorbet

Spotted Dick with Fireball ice cream

Banana Chocolate Bread Pudding with Sailor Jerry’s ice cream

Practically bursting out of our pants, we sat in awe of the feast we just consumed, the hospitality and love we felt from the staff, the comfort of the venue itself. It is a true diamond in the rough!
